The concept, designed by student, Élie Monge from the Université du Québec à Montréal is to replace non-recyclable standard PS(#6) Polystyrene CD cases by this recycled paper envelope. The design does not require any glue and is fully recyclable. The simple system requires minimal energy for fabrication and is provided in a continuous rolled band that allows for detachable CD packages in multiples of two. The emphasis was in the effort to optimize the material and to find creative folds and mechanical tabs to hold the disc in position without any extra pieces. The rigorous sustainable approach also created a completely new aesthetic to the traditional CD case, giving it a filing system look instead of a high-tech one.

Designs Reflective of Our Environment
The designs in this collection were inspired by different elements within our environment. From the molecular genetic make-up of an organism to sprawling urban landscapes, these designs will inspire and are sure to create reverberations throughout any interior. A true example of art imitating life.

The carpeting is custom offered in 100% wool in hand tufted construction or either their 80% wool 20% nylon or 70% wool 30% nylon in axminster construction and contribute 3 points to LEED certification.

Organic
Patterns are found throughout our natural environment and have the ability to adapt to their surroundings. Let your interior evolve.

Micro
A study of organisms and other elements through a microscope creates patterns that are not only relative to this collection but our environment as well. Design is everywhere even at the molecular level.

Urban
The dense man-made landscapes that stretch across our habitat provide us with protection, jobs and entertainment as well as inspiration.

Flight
The process by which an object moves through the air as explored in pattern. From a different perspective, these designs will lift your inspiration.

Interior Designer, Mark Nichols LEED AP, created a rich palette of natural colors inspired by the native desert flora in this eco-conscious home high above the Coachella Valley desert floor. “I like to play with the juxtapositions of man’s technological and artistic achievements and nature’s unerring tenacity,” he says. Through his language of natural fabrics, sustainable materials and non-emitting finishes, Nichols weaves a narrative that speaks to both the rich ancestral history of the desert and the bold modern architecture of the home. Nichols specified abundant uses of recycled glass; formaldehyde-free bamboo floors and casework; silk, aloe and hemp area rugs; and terrazzo poured on-site with regional aggregates. The home is an achievement in the conservation and re-use of materials without sacrificing warmth or luxury.

The process for making Hugo França’s work aligns itself with the central concept of his work: his preoccupation with not wasting wood and the belief that there are infinite possibilities in reclaiming this material. Unearthed roots, trunks and branches are transformed into beautiful, one-of-a-kind objects.

Finding wood left behind by harvesting wood requires constant scouting in the Trancoso, Bahia, Brazil area. Finding his way on foot, by donkey or canoe, Franca relies on both the local Pataxo Indians and on his own knowledge of coastal southern Bahia.

The initial cuts and concept stages of the design are executed on-site where the trees are found due to weight and transportation constraints. Throughout the process, the forms and natural textures are highlighted so that the furniture stays true to where it came from: the tree.

Vetrazzo

With Vetrazzo surfaces, you can express both your style and your respect for the earth without compromise. Vetrazzo surfaces are 85% glass, all of which is recycled and may contribute to LEED credits. They reclaim glass from curbside recycling programs, post industrial usage, windows, dinnerware, automotive windshields, stained glass, laboratory glass, reclaimed glass from building demolition and other unusual sources such as decommissioned traffic lights. Due to the fact that the sources of the glass vary greatly, each surface comes with it’s own unique history.
