Snaidero LEEDs to the Kitchen
Zeta Green
Like all Snaidero kitchens, Zeta Green is E1/ISO 14001 certified, and now it is also the first cabinet line offered by Snaidero USA to meet the strict North-American criteria established by the USGBC (United States Green Building Council) to accumulate credits towards LEED Gold, Silver or Platinum Certification.
Zeta Green uses materials, component parts (including fronts, box construction and panels) and production processing that comply with the LEED standards for low emissions pertaining to the “NO ADDED UREA FORMALDEHYDE resins” specification (Credit EQ 4.4 low emitting composite materials).
Zeta Green is available in a wide variety of eco-friendly finishes to appeal to individual taste and style:
• Wood (light oak, dark oak, Oxford cherry, teak and “Canaletto” walnut)
• Matte and high gloss lacquer: in all the colors offered by Snaidero
• High pressure laminates
• Matte polymeric laminate
Snaidero USA has designed Zeta Green to address the specific needs of American developers active in sustainable building construction practices. The kitchen is available solely and exclusively for multihousing projects.
Orange
The latest product launch from Snaidero USA in North America, Orange was designed with a total respect for the environment. The wood used for Orange is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified. Paints and varnishes are water-based and therefore non-toxic as they contain extremely low levels of synthetic solvents. The 19 mm thick carcass is made of melamine particleboard with very low formaldehyde emissions. The emission level is half the acceptable standard set by the LFE E1 European certification. Perhaps even more interesting for the American clientele is the fact that the panels’ emission levels also conform to the rules set by CARB (the California Air Resources Board), considered the most restrictive standard in the world.
As an alternative to fluorescent lights, Orange offers the more eco-friendly LED lighting system: LED lights can result in 80% energy saving, last 10 times longer than regular bulbs (generally, between 50,000 and 100,000 hours depending on their use), reduce heat emission and do not produce harmful UVA rays.

The product is beautiful and the claims are very impressive, but I have to question the carbon footprint factor when transporting kitchens from Italy to the United States. How has Snaidero addressed this particular environmental issue? I would also call into issue there use of high-gloss lacquers and plastic laminates as eco-sensitive materials. They say this is for there mult-housing market…what product are they offering their residential consumers?
